STOP PRESS: NO WINE BAR THIS FRIDAY, BUT READ ON….
(Read in the tone of Laura Kuenssberg)
After intense strategic negotiations with the West Oxfordshire District Council, we have been forced to cancel the April wine bar that was scheduled for this Friday evening.
WODC have made their position clear, they told us we can not have our cake and eat it, so will NOT budge. We have offered to send round the whip, but it is to no avail.
Why, you may ask? Well, we’re not proud of this. Simply put we forgot to submit our temporary event notice in time, meaning we are not permitted to sell alcohol (we have to give 5 days notice and only remembered this morning). We’re no strangers to incompetance, but honestly, we aren’t proud of ourselves.
A crisis meeting was held today to determine the best course of action. Our objective was clear – to create an enjoyable evening of superb food and wine, allowing people to unwind at the end of the week, and socialise with friends. We think we’ve come up with a brilliant alternative arrangement.
