White Cabbage with Caraway

This is a delicious way to serve white cabbage.

White cabbage with caraway:

Enough white cabbage finely sliced (slices about 1 cm thick) for however many people you are serving.
Slice of  lemon or orange (optional)
1/2 tsp caraway seeds per person
Knob of butter per person
Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil. Add a pinch of salt and slice of lemon or orange(if adding).
  2. Add the shredded cabbage and boil for about 3 – 5 minutes, until softened.
  3. In a different saucepan, gently melt the butter and add the caraway seeds. Cook until lightly roasted.
  4. Drain the cabbage well, toss in the butter, season and serve.

Great with roast chicken or pork, sausages and mash etc. If you have any left it is great as a salad, you can add a bit of vinaigrette dressing.
