This is a delicious way to serve white cabbage.
White cabbage with caraway:
Enough white cabbage finely sliced (slices about 1 cm thick) for however many people you are serving.
Slice of lemon or orange (optional)
1/2 tsp caraway seeds per person
Knob of butter per person
Salt and pepper to taste
- Bring a saucepan of water to the boil. Add a pinch of salt and slice of lemon or orange(if adding).
- Add the shredded cabbage and boil for about 3 – 5 minutes, until softened.
- In a different saucepan, gently melt the butter and add the caraway seeds. Cook until lightly roasted.
- Drain the cabbage well, toss in the butter, season and serve.
Great with roast chicken or pork, sausages and mash etc. If you have any left it is great as a salad, you can add a bit of vinaigrette dressing.
